Boating and Fishing at nearby Lake LBJ in the Texas Hill Country
We at the Llano River RV Park invite you to explore the beautiful Texas hill country. The Lyndon Baines Johnson (LBJ) Lake is just a short 20 minute drive from Llano River RV Park and offers great boating, fishing, and other recreational water activities.
Boat rentals, guided fishing tours and public boat ramps are available at the LBJ Lake. The LBJ Lake teams with largemouth, white bass, crappie, stripes and catfish.
After a day at the Lyndon B. Johnson Lake, head back to your campsite at the Llano River RV Park to cook the fish you caught over the campfire while listening to the ripples of the Llano River, and the soothing sounds of the nature around you.
The LBJ Lake is located within Texas hill country near the towns of Marble Falls, Kingsland, and Granite Shoals, and is 21 miles in length. The Lake is filled with waters from the Llano and Colorado rivers, Sandy creek, and other creeks.
Lake LBJ was formed in 1950 by the completion of Wirtz Dam, and was first named: Granite Shoals. It was renamed the Lyndon Baines Johnson or LBJ Lake in 1965 in honor of President Johnson, Texas resident and strong supporter of protecting Texas hill country's natural assets. The lake produces electrical power at the dam, and in the early 70's the Thomas C. Ferguson natural gas power plant was built, which uses Lake LBJ for its cooling water. Several communities around the lake use it for drinking water.
