What to do in San Antonio
San Antonio, one of the largest cities in Texas, is a city that has a rich history, as well as a number of activities that you and your family will enjoy. There are lots of things to do in San Antonio, so whether you're traveling to the city on business, a family vacation, or planning a romantic getaway, you're sure to leave San Antonio with intentions of visiting again soon.
If you're interested in learning more about the city of San Antonio itself, you may want to check out the San Antonio Missions National Historic Park. The Park contains historic trails that have been around since the time that Spanish priests primarily occupied the area that is now San Antonio. The Missions that the priests lived in, the Mission San Jose, Mission Concepcion, Mission San Juan, and Mission Espada are all constructed remarkably well, with exquisite architecture. The history of each of mission is described in detail at the park, and admission is free. And, the park is open everyday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., except for holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day).
The San Antonio Zoo is also a great place to visit while you're in the city. The zoo is one of the best in the country and has a variety of animals—over 700 species. You can also schedule a private event at the zoo, such as children's birthday parties, and there are several educational programs for kids of all ages, so if you're particularly interested in learning about animals, the San Antonio Zoo is definitely the place for you.
Whether you're planning a romantic outing, want to spend an evening out with friends, or are looking for something new for the kids to enjoy, the San Antonio Botanical Gardens is a wonderful place to visit during your vacation in San Antonio. There are flowers in bloom at all times of the year. Flower arrangements are in abundance, with a number of exotic as well as locally-grown flowers. You can take part in the guided tour, or have lunch at the garden café. And, the botanical gardens are extremely affordable; admission is $6 for adults and $3 for children over 3.
