The zoo is one of the best in the country and has a variety of animals—over 700 species. You can also schedule a private event at the zoo, such as children's birthday parties, and there are several educational programs for kids of all ages, so if you're particularly interested in learning about animals, the San Antonio Zoo is definitely the place for you. Whether you're planning a romantic outing, want to spend an evening out with friends, or are looking for something new for the kids to enjoy, the San Antonio Botanical Gardens is a wonderful place to visit during your vacation in San Antonio. There are flowers in bloom at all times of the year. Flower arrangements are in abundance, with a number of exotic as well as locally-grown flowers. You can take part in the guided tour, or have lunch at the garden café. And, the botanical gardens are extremely affordable; admission is $6 for adults and $3 for children over 3.
